1. The Dig

Use line marker paint, strings and pegs. Allow at least 9" overdig for maneuverability around the sides and 3" to 6" to the base.

2. Washed Stone

Use 10mm stone to create a level or sloping base (depending on your model). Use two scaffold poles and a 'screed board' to get a flat finish. Remove the poles!!

3. Delivery

The pool arrives by lorry with a Hyab crane to lift off the pool onto your site. Direct lifting into the hole is usually inpractical, this would normally be done by the digging machine.

4. Level the pool

A few mm out of level can be corrected later. It may help to fit short lengths of pipe to the lower fittings at this stage (if not before).

5. Pipes

Fit skimmer box and pipework to all outlets and back to the plant room. Keep pipework below pool water level for as long as possible before rising into the plant room.

6. Water

Fill pool to about 1/3 depth. Check your levels once again. Continue to fill pool. Add washed stone backfill as water level rises to maintain equal pressures.

7. Coping

A concrete ring beam needs to be poured onto the backfill to strengthen the rim and provide a base for the coping. Lay your choice of coping onto this beam.

8. Mosaic

An optional mosaic tile band can be added to enhance the water line and add that Mediterranean feel.
